Add/Remove/Intersect Tool

The Add/Remove/Intersect tools can be used to merge or remove sections of parts and are used in situations where you have two intersecting bodies in one part.

To do this, first make sure you are in the Part Design workbench. Then insert two bodies by going to Insert->Body. Create sketches for each body and pad them so that they create an intersecting 3D object. You are now ready to test the tools.

The tools can be found in the “Boolean Operations” toolbar, which can be enabled through View->Toolbars-> Boolean Operations.

Remove 1

Click OK. The region where the objects intersect should be removed along with the body you chose to remove, leaving behind a cube with a hemispherical shape missing, as seen in the image below. You will also notice that the bodies have merged into 1 Part Body in the tree, and “Remove” appears on a branch of the tree.
