Drawing Abbreviations

This a list of some of the most common abbreviations used in drawings, these should be used where possible to neaten up your own:

 

Abbreviation Definition Description
REF Reference Dimension An accumulation of other dimensions that are defined elsewhere
FTD Full Thread Depth The depth of the full thread
PCD Pitch Circle Diameter The diameter of a circle on which the centerpoints of bolt holes lie when the bolt holes are positioned as equally spaced in a circle
CH’F Chamfered
THRO’ Through Applied to a hole dimension to signify that the hole extends through the workpiece
DIA Diameter
DIM Dimension
AC Across Corner Used when measuring the corners of a hex drive, such as a hex nut.
AF Across Flat Used when measuring the corners of a hex drive, such as a hex nut.
